Sounds Green
Cambridge University Botanic Garden
On Wednesday evenings in July, Cambridge University Botanic Garden rings to the sound of live music when we present Sounds Green – the best in open-air music. Bring a rug and a picnic. Food, ice creams and drinks on sale. Open to all ages. Music from 6.15pm. Garden closes at 8.30pm.
PLEASE NOTE: All paying visitors should buy garden entrance tickets in advance via the Botanic Garden website, available for purchase from June. Tickets may also be available on the gate, but this cannot be guaranteed. Friends of the Botanic Garden and CU students are admitted free. Retiring collection towards artists’ costs.


Prime Brass: featuring singer Daisy Livesey

Well-known for its performances at the lighter end of the musical spectrum and popular family concerts, local ensemble Prime Brass returns to Sounds Green, together with singer Daisy Livesey. With something for young and old alike, expect toe-tapping music that is sure to have you up and dancing!

Essex Jazz Collective
Wednesday 9 July
The Essex Jazz Collective is an exciting new 6-piece jazz band with members based in North West Essex. EJC plays a full range of fun, singable jazz plus crossover songs that will have you humming for days afterwards. Whether it’s Blues or Bebop, smoochy Ballads or the Great American Song Book, there is something for everyone to enjoy.

Bleskydy: Klezmer Band

Guaranteed to result in limb movement – a delightful fusion of fiddle, accordion, clarinet, furiously creating beautiful mayhem! Beskydy’s music has its roots in the dance rhythms and songs of Moravia, Bohemia and Slovakia, where the Beskydy mountains run. From traditional dance music to songs, Beskydy create magic and presence with their exceptional musical ability.

Honey and the Bear

A British Folk and Roots duo who combine delicately interweaving vocal harmonies with evocative songwriting. With diverse sounds, textures and rhythms that flow from the fast and furious to gentle ballads, their live performances are spirited and dynamic, conjuring stories in song. The multi-instrumentalist pair, comprise songwriters Jon Hart (guitar, bass, bouzouki) and Lucy Hart (guitar, ukulele, bass, banjo, mandolin & percussion).

Cores Do Samba
Wednesday 30 July
Led by Brazilian singer Caru Lins, the group explores the infectious, rhythmic and uplifting music of Brazil, especially the ’MPB’ style (Música Popular Brasileira), plus samba, bossa nova and funk, and songs by Gilberto Gil, Chico Buarque, João Donato, Tom Jobim, Djavan, Joyce and Ivan Lins.
