For this year’s Cambridge Summer Music Festival Finale we welcome back Faust Chamber Orchestra under the baton of David Hill.

At the heart of this programme lies the epic 'Paris: Song of a Great City' composed by Frederick Delius in 1900. Often thought of as the first of his later masterpieces, Paris is a subtle impressionist tone picture, generally contemplative with atmospheric tranquillity interspersed with exciting episodes of bold emotions. Originally scored for a large symphony orchestra we have commissioned the brilliant Iain Farrington to arrange this work for smaller forces.

Cambridge Summer Music thanks the Delius Trust for its generous financial support of this performance.
