Wander in the romantic gardens of Childerley Hall and then gather in Childerley’s beautiful 19th century Long Barn for a performance of Donizettis’s much-loved opera The Elixir of Love. Wild Arts bring their trademark effervescent storytelling to one of the great Italian operas. Donizetti’s masterpiece is full of tunes, romance, and mischievous comedy. Wild Arts’ new production is fully staged in costume, sung in English in a new translation by Orlando Jopling, directed by Guido Martin- Brandis and conducted by Orlando Jopling, with a chamber orchestra of eight players.
The sparkling comedy of the hapless Nemorino, hopelessly in love with the beautiful Adina, will be brought to life by an outstanding young cast of singers including rising star soprano Galina Averina. Opera at close quarters, reimagined for modern ears. The score brims over with irrepressible mischief, great tunes and Donizetti’s effervescent ensembles and finales, which build to a fantastic, joyous climaxes.
“A fine young cast excel, with engaging energy and superb singing. ★★★★ “The Guardian on their 2022 production, which played to packed houses.
