Composing for Strings
with Ewan Campbell
Churchill College, Cambridge
Sunday 30 March, 2pm-4pm
Music Centre, Churchill College, Cambridge
This talk by composer Ewan Campbell will provide practical advice on composing for a string trio: Violin, Viola and Cello. It is designed for young people aged 21 years and under, but others interested in composing are welcome to attend. The talk is free but please register to attend via the link below, to give us an idea of numbers.
The talk will be of particular relevance to young people interested in taking part in this year’s Young Composers Workshop at the Cambridge Summer Music Festival in July. This annual workshop provides the chance for those aged 21 and under to hear a piece they have composed performed and workshopped by professional musicians, with individual feedback provided by the musicians and by Ewan Campell. This year the instrumentation involved will be a string trio. Further details about the workshop will be provided shortly.
Run in collaboration with Cambridge Youth Music.
